JAPANESE SERVICE
Because I had a shop in the Kansai with Takashimaya, I was
interested in knowing more about the extensive development of Osaka's seaport then nearing completion.
In San Francisco,
I telephoned the JETRO office (Japanese Export Trade Organization) for
information. They advised I contact the Chicago
office and ask for the Osaka
desk which had more information. I should wait twenty minutes before calling.
I phoned Chicago, asked for the Osaka desk and identified
myself. They had expected to hear from me. San Francisco had already talked to them.
Promptly and efficiently, I got the information I wanted. Shortly
after the conversation was completed, the San Francisco
office phoned and asked if my call to Chicago
had been satisfactory.
